How to still do what you love while on a family holiday.

Firstly, gather your basic supplies.

Holiday Art Journalling Tool Kit

It was daunting at the start. Too much stuff, not enough room, what if…what if…what if…..
So I just decided what I “wanted” to do and then got the stuff to do it.
ART JOURNALLING. Easy right?
-glue stick
-watercolour pencils (Francheville and Mont Marte woodless varieties)
-aqua pen
-oil crayons
-Strathmore Mixed Media journal
-scissors
-BiC Correction pen
-charcoal pencils (black)
-assortment of black and white gel/micron/OHT/etc pens

and most importantly, the ability to prioritise “my” relaxation time over the needs and wants of the family.
Easy to pack in a suitcase and easy to take to the beach. Yep, even took this to the beach and sat quietly under the umbrella while the boys swam in the surf.

"joy"

"joy" the story

"the little lady that could"

The flowers were some paper I had IN the journal. It was left over paint from a previous project I didn’t want to waste. I simply scraped it on paper with an old loyalty card and while still wet, used the end of my paintbrush to make random marks into the paint. A quick swipe of white oil crayon (when dry) to draw the pattern out, and there you have it!!

I’m slowly learning to make art everyday, regardless of whether it’s finished or fantastic. The most important thing, is to DO.

The boyos are back at school in only 2 weeks! I will soon have my days back and some more creative headspace.

Have you chizelled out some creative time these holidays? Would love to hear about it!!!
xx
