100 Faces Challenge

I am really excited about this latest FaceBook-based challenge group called studio7ARTacademy. We are completing 100 Faces/Portraits with no deadlines, no restrictions, no other criteria. We are all inspired by Dina Wakley’s loose, painterly portraits she creates in her art journals. I’m pretty sure most of us has at least ONE of her books and watched her very excellent videos promoting her latest book ART JOURNALING COURAGE.

The moment I watched the videos, I started painting A FACE A DAY and sharing them on FaceBook. Then my friend Debbie told me about the FaceBook group and it’s been wonderful!!

Here is my portfolio for Week 1:

day 1
day 2
day 2
day 3
day 3
day 4
day 4
day 5
day 5
day 6
day 6
day 7
day 7

I’m sharing this for a number of reasons:
1. To show you that ANYONE can paint a face,
2. To kickstart the next chapter of my art journey, and
3. To encourage some of you to put pen, pencil, paint to paper.

I don’t like ALL of them.
Some are unfinished, raw, crude, weird and wonky.
But I have 93 faces to go, and that’s the best and most exciting part!
I have no idea what number 100 will look like, but I’m certain she won’t look like this week’s lot.

  1. This faces challenge is a great idea… the more you draw something, the better it comes out to be in the end. Over the past week I’ve done 5 or so faces, for funsies… I just might join you! 🙂
