This week I am super excited to be featured in Etzcetera Magazine’s newest feature, WIWORN (What I’m Working On Right Now).
Here is the snippet that I shared of my latest artwork:
And here is the completed artwork:
This artwork gave me so much joy, from beginning to end. The intricate layering of the dressmaker’s tissue, the effort of cutting and texturising the leaves and the manifestation of a wonderful female figure on a solitary swing brought waves of excitement and giddiness.
She truly is a sign of where I am going artistically.
Despite all the painting classes, I am constantly drawn back to my love of collage and working with paper in all its many forms and functions, and discovering (not inventing) new ways to manipulate it.
I am looking forward to making more works of art with this technique!
But I ran out of dressmaker’s tissue paper…eek! I ran into my local Endeavour Foundation shop and found a stack for $1/packet.
But I didn’t have the heart to tell the shop keeper that I wasn’t in fact making clothes, but tearing it all up. She was too excited to see I was buying up patterns.
Darn. Must get over that guilt.
